Founding and growth of Koustrup & co

Koustrup & Co. was founded in 2011 by Søren Koustrup and Ulla Koustrup with the goal of spreading knowledge about plants, animals, gastronomy and ecological living. Since then, the company has grown significantly and in 2014 the team was expanded with two daughters and a son-in-law, which led to an expansion of the product portfolio to also include interior products such as trays, tea towels, Umbrellas and napkins. In 2018, the company grew further to a total of 7 permanent employees and 30 freelancers, including writers, artists and graphic artists.

Koustrup & Co. is driven by a passion for beautiful design and decorative illustrations. The company continuously develops new Danish-designed quality products that are not only aesthetically appealing, but also convey knowledge about nature, food, culture and history. Each product has a unique story that Koustrup & Co. wants to share with the world.

Sustainability and environmental awareness

The environment is a key part of Koustrup & Co.’s mission. The company attaches great importance to sustainability and chooses environmentally friendly materials for its products. Textile products are made from organic cotton and water-based inks, while glass pieces, trays and cutting boards are made from sustainable Nordic birch veneer with environmentally friendly melamine coating that can withstand high temperatures and is approved for food. Cover napkins are produced from sustainable eucalyptus composite. All posters, art prints, tea towels and individual cards are packed in biodegradable cellophane made from plant starch from maize, which degrades at 58 degrees. The packaging foam is made from organic compostable corn granules, and the paper filling is recycled paper, which underlines Koustrup & Co.’s commitment to a greener future.
