The Ester & Erik candle is not just a light; it has become a design icon within interior products. The company has managed to combine old light craftsmanship with modern technology by using robots to thread wicks. The dip technique, which requires up to 25 dips in warm paraffin, creates the distinctive shape and quality that the ester & erik candle is known for.
They impress with their dedication to creating the best light through generations. Their story reminds us that behind every candle lies a legacy of love for craftsmanship and a quest for perfection.
In Estonian and Erik, old craftsmanship is still at the core of production. Each individual light undergoes careful quality checks at all stages of production, from the frame to the wax, colour, lacquer and packaging. The result is a unique product made from the finest materials.
The company’s history began with a dream at Erik Møller. After more than 15 years as an export salesman in the light industry, he decided to found ester & erik with the goal of creating the best handmade light. He used all his creative insights into materials, decoration and exports to realise his vision. For example, he developed a dipping machine, which is still used for hand dipping the lights. Erik was also the mastermind behind the iconic light frames, which serve as both an exhibition display and can be cut. His travels to trade fairs in Milan, Frankfurt and Zurich helped to spread awareness of the ester & erik light and its vision.
At the factory, his wife, Ester Møller, was responsible for ensuring that the quality of the light was top notch. Her meticulous work with colouring, lacquering and packaging were crucial to achieving the high standard that Erik had dreamed of. She ensured that the light remained a handcrafted product of the highest quality.
Today, two generations later, Søren Møller leads the company with the same passion and respect for light craftsmanship, raw materials and production. He shares the same fascination with the unique qualities of light and its ability to create atmosphere.
