Honest

Lis Hansen is the woman behind honest and beautiful allergy friendly fragrances

She has always had a fascination for working with fragrances without the use of the 26 allergens. Finding the right fragrances without allergens can be a challenging task. Therefore, in 2018, she decided to start developing her own perfumes. This journey has been long and exciting, and by 2020, her perfumes were finally ready to be launched.

Her goal is to be honest about her products and completely avoid the 26 allergens. She hopes that her honest perfumes will allow those who cannot tolerate the 26 allergens to enjoy scents again. At the same time, she strives to be as sustainable as possible. The raw materials and part of the packaging are purchased within Europe, but the majority of the packaging is Danish and production takes place in Denmark.

She hopes that you will love her scents and find your very own favourite among them.

Useful knowledge about the perfumes

The reason why a perfume can smell different

The same perfume can smell very different depending on who is using it and when it is applied to the skin. A fragrance develops and smells differently over time depending on the fragrance’s composition of notes. It is also about the construction of perfume. Perfumes consist of top notes, heart notes and base notes.

The 3 levels of perfumery

Top notes are the first impression you get of a perfume and can also be called key notes. They have a molecular structure that allows them to disappear quickly. It’s the top notes that you can smell immediately when you test a perfume, and they last from a few minutes to up to half an hour.

Since the top notes can quickly disappear, it may be a good idea to wait a bit to decide which perfume to choose. You may have experienced that another person smelled amazingly of a particular perfume, but when you try it yourself in a store, it does not smell the same. This may be because the person had been wearing the perfume for a long time, so the heart notes had arrived!

– The heart notes  usually last for a few hours, but it varies greatly from person to person, how long they last. Fragrances can develop differently on the same person depending on age, hormone balance in the skin, etc. For example, it may explain why your favorite perfume suddenly doesn’t smell the same as it always has. Perfume is both about chemistry and biology.

-The base notes  disappear slowly because they have a stronger molecular structure. This is the phase that lasts the longest and where the perfume itself is anchored in the air.

Important knowledge about honestly hypoallergenic perfumes

Allergic fragrances are different from ordinary fragrances. Allergic fragrances are free of most essential oils, making them generally more special.

Therefore, you may also find that some hypoallergenic fragrances do not last as long as regular fragrances, because you have to skip the use of ingredients that help to make the basic notes that last a long time.

It is therefore a long process to develop fragrances to be honest, as we want the perfumes to last as long as possible and smell amazing.

Storage of perfume

Perfumes are sensitive, and the very best thing for a perfume is to be stored at room temperature dark or in its box so that it is not exposed to sunlight. To store it in the bathroom, which is perhaps the most common,is not so good for the durability of the perfume, the temperature in the room changes when you go for a shower, and it can become humid and very hot.

Applying perfume

Of course, you want to smell good with perfume throughout the day. Unfortunately, there are few perfumes that last an entire working day. An Eau de Parfum (EdP) lasts for about five hours, and an Eau de Toilette (EdT) lasts for about three hours. This is because EdP contains more concentrated fragrance oil. Fortunately, there are a few tricks to keep the scent going as long as possible.

A tip to keep the fragrance going for several hours is to moisturise your skin first, for example with cream. Perfume sticks better to the skin if the skin is not dry, so it may be a good idea to add moisture to the skin before applying perfume.

Points on the body where the pulse is close to the surface are good places to apply perfume. Body heat intensifies the scent.

The wrists and behind the jawline are the most common places to apply perfume, but remember not to rub the surfaces against each other after applying perfume. Perfumes should only be applied and air dried.

Other tips may be to apply to the armpit, knee joints and elbow joints, which are also places on the body where there is warmth.

Don't forget your hair! A spray of perfume into the hair and it sticks to the hair.

Apply two layers for extra durability
