This particular design is inspired by Ohara Koson, a famous Japanese artist known for his kach-e (bird and flower prints). Koson, who was both a painter and a woodblock designer in the late 19th century, created unique works depicting birds and animals in harmonious, naturalistic landscapes. This motif of a peacock dates from the period circa 1925-1936 and originates from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
