Dhurrie rug – Meeta

Meeta is a beautifully hand-woven dhurrie rug, created by skilled craftsmen on a vertical weave in India.

The rug is part of a Fair Trade project where traditional craftsmanship, quality and care go hand in hand. Each rug is influenced by the time and craftsmanship involved, and therefore there may be slight variations in the expression.

Meeta has a calm yet colourful look. The carpet is divided into three fields, which gives it a nice graphic effect. At one end, it has mint green, green, pink and coral, and off-white shades that add a fresh and light expression to the room.

The lightweight blend of wool and cotton makes the rug durable and natural in its expression. It fits beautifully into both modern and more classic homes and can be used in many places – for example, in the entrance hall, next to the bed, in the kitchen, in the children’s room or as a colourful feature in the cottage.

A hand-woven rug with warmth, colours and history.

Description
At Afroart, they want to collaborate with local craftsmen and artists from countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The aim is to make the craft visible in areas where the craft is one of the most important sources of income. Afroart’s own design team helps to develop both the design, but also the development of tools, creating new areas of work and at the same time helping the traditional crafts survive. Here the focus is on not wearing down or misusing the earth’s resources. So here is an extra focus on recycling materials. Things are handmade and preferably locally, this is to create life in the cities and not collect the work in larger cities. Afroart imports through fair trade organisations, which ensure that they trade directly from small artisans. The following countries cooperate with Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, El Salvador, Philippines, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Tanzania, Vietnam.
