Raffia is a durable natural material that comes from the raffia palm, which grows in tropical areas of Africa. The fibres are extracted from the palm leaves and processed into long threads that are woven by hand. It is a traditional craft that gives each tray its own distinctive character with small natural variations in shape and braiding.

The ground is handmade in Madagascar under fair trade conditions, where local craftsmanship is an important part of production.
