Calendar candles from Denmark’s oldest light foundry – a Danish Christmas tradition

In Denmark, there is hardly a Christmas tradition that is more enjoyable than the calendar light. A beautiful light that lights up every day in December, while you follow the countdown to Christmas Eve – the big party for the children and the family. Hos Remix by Sofie you will find a huge selection of calendar light from one of Denmark’s oldest light foundriesWhere tradition and quality go hand in hand.

When did the tradition of calendar lights begin?

The calendar light dates back to the 1930s and 1940s, when it first became popular in Danish homes. Back then, it was a simple and enjoyable way to mark the days leading up to Christmas – and quickly became a regular part of the Danish Christmas fun. Today, the calendar light is almost indispensable in December, and for many, it is just as important as the Advent wreath or the Christmas tree.

Lighting your calendar light every morning or evening creates calmness, presence and anticipation. It’s a tradition that ties generations together – and makes December extra magical.

Calendar lights in different sizes and widths

With us you will find calendar light in 20 cm height and with different widths: 4, 5, 6 or 7 cm.

And here the tradition divides: Some always burn their calendar candles all the way down to Christmas Eve – others are constantly behind and have to “catch up” the days. Both are part of the charm of the calendar light.

Single-coloured and two-coloured calendar lights

We have one of Denmark’s largest selection of calendar lights – more than 40 different types.

Single-colored calendar lights – classic and simple, in beautiful Christmas colours.
Two-color calendar lights – elegant and modern, where the lights are dipped in two contrasting colors.

All our calendar lights come with gGold numbers and are manufactured in Denmark. They are made of 100% paraffin, produced at the foundry itself, and then dipped in the colors.
