Which cup do you choose today? – About the joy of ceramic cups and mugs
Most of us probably have more cups and mugs in our cupboards than we really need – and yet we still choose carefully every morning. Maybe it's the cappuccino cup with the perfect shape? The big mug of Hank for tea? Or the small espresso cup that fits exactly into a strong morning coffee. And even though we have many, there is still room for a new favourite cup.
The Right Cup for the day. And that’s precisely what we love about handmade ceramic cups and mugs – they each have their own expression, personality and function. At Remix by Sofie we have collected a carefully selected range of ceramic cups from skilled craftsmen – each with its own style and history.
We believe that your coffee cup should be as personal and unique as you are. That’s why we have cups with and without handles, cups of all sizes – from espresso cups and cortado cups to large morning mugs and tea cups – and a wealth of colours, textures and glazes.

Trine Lise Ceramics – exclusive cups created exclusively for Remix by Sofie
Trine Lise Ceramics is a unique collaboration, which we at Remix by Sofie are particularly proud of. It is only with us that you will find her beautiful, grooved cups, which with their calm idiom and sensual expression hits something very special in many of our customers.
Trine Lise works from an aesthetic that balances the simple and the living – and all the cups are handmade in her own workshop in Sweden. This means that each cup is unique, and you will experience small differences in shape, glaze and finish – just what makes handmade ceramics so valuable.
Ceramic cups with character and craftsmanship at their core
The special feature of Trine Lise’s cups is the grooved pattern that runs like a rhythm along the outside. It provides both a visual structure and a tactile feel that feels comfortable in the hand. The inspiration comes from retro ceramics from the 60s, which Sofie herself has a love for – and which now gets new life in a more modern, Nordic interpretation.

Frequently asked questions about ceramic cups and mugs
How big should an espresso cup be?
A classic espresso cup typically holds 60-90 ml. With us you will find small cups from both Trine Lise, Egg Back Home and Bornholms Keramikfabrik, which are perfect for espresso – both with and without handle.
What is the difference between a cup and a mug?
-
A cup is often smaller and more elegant – typically used for coffee and tea.
-
A mMugs larger, more robust and often contains more than 300 ml. It is often used for tea, cocoa or large coffee drinks.
At Remix by Sofie, we have both – and everything in between. However, most of us call them cups.
Why are cups best in stoneware?
Stoneware is more durable than clayware, as it is burned at a very high temperature. It has a natural weight and structure that many prefer.
Can ceramic cups withstand dishwashers?
Yes – all our stoneware cups are high burning and dishwasher safe. However, we recommend that you avoid washing dishes at very high temperatures if the cup has delicate decorations, such as gold or hand-painted details.
